LIITA - The preparation


On the day itself, five people took the day off to anchor the preparation for the event. I just want to say a big thank you for the support and involvement of everyone all the way from planning, to coming early to help set up, to bringing friends, and even in how you took the effort to connect.

We started out the event with a big empty hall, with completely white walls and ceilings, and only 2 tables and less than 20 chairs provided. There was a lot of work to do to get things ready.

Here was the result.

We set up and decorated not one, but two Christmas trees, along with another small white one on the table. (I don't think I'll ever experience putting up and taking down two trees in one day ever again!)

These were really fun to do! We had cut out cardboard and sprayed some snow spray to get these decorations.


It turned out really well in the evening when it was dark outside against the tinted windows. =)


Adeline added some nice finishing touches to the table where guests would sign in and fill in the contact details card. (Guys just aren't good with these details!)


Cute cut-outs of hearts, gingerbread men and Christmas trees to add some colour to the walls.


Balloons provided by the Church. We were wondering what was the best way to put them up and found an effective way to display the Love Is In The Air theme using double sided tape!


The hall was so big that we could use one side for food and one side for games. We brought three Ikea standing lights so we could switch off the glaring fluorescent lights and add a more romantic atmosphere. =P


On top of cooking the food, Bergson managed to find time to make many straw bundles out of green and red straw that we lined the ceiling beams with. It helped to add Christmas colours to the event - really liked how it turned out!


Now for the food! Bergson and Sian Jeen really outdid themselves, with a big thank you also to those who helped to bring some of the dishes, particularly to Kah Fai's mom who helped to cook, Colin who brought fresh Australian cherries and delicious garlic bread and Crystal who baked cute cupcakes.


I won't go into too much detail because I wouldn't do the food justice but it was like a three-course meal. Appetisers with dips while waiting for latecomers, food galore for the main courses such as pasta with 2 different sauces, fried chicken drummets and a sausage onion dish, and desserts of cup cakes, jelly and cherries! I'm salivating just remembering it...


Here are the thank you cards that we gave to our guests as part of the door gift (which included a limited edition LIITA mug and a gift-wrapped bundle of sweets).


Kah Fai designed the front and Colin did the back of the card.
